Creative play, puppet storytelling, circle time, practical and artistic activities balance free, creative expression of your child within the teacher-led group experience. We work with natural materials for a true education of the senses.
Rhythms of the day, week and seasons provide a basis for structure, helping your child gain a secure relationship to the world. Each day will become known to the children, not by the day of the week, which carries little meaning to them, but by the activities that are done that day, such as “bread day” or “painting day”.
The children enjoy gluten free, organic lunches, which they often help prepare.
Young children in our nursery are typically 3 to 4 1/2 years old.
A typical day in the Seahorse Nursery class goes as follows:
Free play (including coloring, painting, or small handwork projects)
Tidying up/Washing hands
Morning song and Circle time, ending in a few minutes of rest with harp playing
Snack time (including blessings, candle ritual)
Bathroom time and getting ready to go outside
Outdoor free play/more time for projects
Story/Finger plays/ Puppet story/Games/Getting ready to go home.
The Seahorse Nursery meets Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 until 1:00 pm. Little Clamshells after care is available to Nursery students as well.
