| The Faculty is responsible for all pedagogical matters, which include: instruction, curriculum development, and all decisions related to the classes and classroom environments. Faculty makes recommendations for hiring of all teachers, assistants, specialty teachers and child-care personnel and is responsible for the philosophical enrichment and guidance of the school. Full-time Faculty meet weekly to study the goals and philosophy of Waldorf education, to attend to Faculty business and concerns, to plan school activities, to engage in artistic and enriching activities, and to discuss the development, interests, and needs of individual children. | |
About Miss Laura - Little Seedlings Parent-Child Playgroup, Sunflower Nursery, and Extended Day Provider
Laura Barrett, BBA has been with us since 2010. Ms Barrett is our Sunflower Nursery Teacher, our Parent Child Playgroup facilitator, and facilitates and oversees our After Care Program. She has an Early Childhood Certificate from Sunbridge College in Spring Valley, NY and has taught a Nursery Kindergarten class at the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School. At the Mountain Laurel School, Laura worked as a project teacher for Grades 2 and 3 and an assistant to the Kindergarten. Her experience in Waldorf teaching spans over 8 years with a emphasis on a caring and gentle approach to a child's development and learning.
About Miss Connie - Marigold Kindergarten Teacher

Connie Manson BFA, M. Ed, is an early childhood educator and Sunbridge College trained Waldorf teacher, and has taught Waldorf kindergarten, nursery and parent child programs for over 19 years. She has shared the magic of puppetry and music as a professional puppeteer and has provided many joy-filled workshops for parents and teachers of young children in Waldorf schools and training centers nationwide. Ms. Manson, is a faculty member at Waldorf Sarasota where she currently teaches the Marigold Kindergarten Program offering a joyful and developmentally meaningful environment where play is nurtured, and childhood is respected.

Cheri Jex was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and has lived in Florida, Colorado, Utah, Washington State, Illinois, Idaho, Germany, Holland, England, Scotland and Switzerland. After attending Brigham Young University, Cheri was hired as a German instructor at the Language Training Center in Provo, Utah where her teaching career began in 1976. She taught art, music and German for eight years in the Department of Defense Dependent School System in Germany. Other teaching jobs included being the gifted and talented facilitator for Bear Lake District in Idaho for ten years, teaching kindergarten at the Tacoma German Language School for five years and being the enrichment coordinator for the P.A.C.E. program in Woodinville, Washington.
She chose Waldorf schools as sister schools for her American classes in Germany. Learning from the inside out has been a proven success over the course of Cheri's teaching career. Seeing the potential in each child and allowing them to succeed is her main teaching strategy. Cheri has been married to her husband, Michael, for over fifteen years and between them they have twelve children . Cheri is a proud 'Oma' to sixteen grandchildren. Cheri's interests include linguistics, travel, writing, reading, folk dancing and spending time with family and friends.
Cheri's Waldorf teaching experience includes teaching the third grade and then fourth grade at Suncoast Waldorf School in Clearwater, Fl. She enrolled in the summer sequence Waldorf Teacher Training at Antioch University in New England. Cheri completed an internship at Sarasota Waldorf School and graduated with her Waldorf Grades Teaching Certificate in July 2011.
About Mr. Chin - Primary Grades Class Teacher, Games and Educational Support
Peter Chin’s (B.A., M.A.) Waldorf teaching experience spans more than 26 years and follows seven years as an instructor for state and county programs for youth services and adults with developmental disabilities. Peter previously lived in Florida as a university student majoring in English Literature and Secondary Education. With his post graduate work, he held Florida teaching credentials for elementary and secondary education. Peter is also a graduate of the AHE Waldorf Resource Teacher Training program. After graduating several Waldorf grades classes, he served as the full-time educational support teacher at the Santa Barbara Waldorf School for several years. Peter is also a gifted musician and fencer, and his class benefits daily from his lively teaching techniques. Peter is currently serving Waldorf Sarasota as the faculty chair.
