Grades Teacher 2015/2016

The Waldorf School of Sarasota is in search of a class teacher  for the 2015/2016 school year. Desired qualifications include a college degree, Waldorf Teaching Certification and prior teaching experience. Ideal candidates are Waldorf trained teachers with a solid track record of successful teaching experience, a commitment to Waldorf Education, and a willingness to contribute to a developing school with strong leadership and faculty participation. We seek a talented individual who loves children, teaching, and can work with colleagues in a collaborative manner.

Waldorf Sarasota presently offers Nursery through Upper grades programs as well as Parent-Child classes. Our specialty subjects program includes: Spanish, German, Handwork, Woodworking, Strings, Games, and Music. Now in our 15th year, our supporting community includes fully trained and seasoned class teachers, a committed board of trustees and administrative staff as well as an active parent community experienced in preparing festival celebrations and creating imaginative and successful fund-raising events. We are a developing school that welcomes a pioneering spirit with a willingness to share an enthusiasm for Waldorf education through outreach into the greater community.

Parent Child Teacher 2015/2016

The Waldorf School of Sarasota is seeking a part-time Parent-Child Teacher to join our burgeoning Early Childhood team for the 2015-16 school year.

Our ideal candidate has Waldorf Early Childhood education/ LifeWays Early Childhood certification or familiarity with Waldorf education and a genuine interest in becoming a certified Waldorf teacher, and has experience working with very young children and their parents.

The teacher will be responsible for facilitating parent-child classes beginning in August 2015. These classes serve the youngest families in our school. The teacher must be comfortable with the presence of adults in the classroom, and be able to communicate effectively with them. This class is the introductory experience for families coming into our school community and offers parents a window into Waldorf Early Childhood Education and the benefits that it has to offer young children. Parents are also searching for guidance on a broad range of parenting questions, so in addition to being knowledgeable about Waldorf Early Childhood recommendations for young parents, it is helpful to have some knowledge of other parenting styles, such as attachment parenting, etc. It is essential to be open to what will serve the families.
The parent-child teacher will need to be able to select books, articles, and other written information about the curriculum for parents to read. Attendance is expected at weekly faculty meetings as well as participation in occasional enrollment events and open houses.

Nursery Assistant Teacher 2015/2016

The Waldorf School of Sarasota is seeking a part-time Nursery Assistant Teacher for the 2015-16 school year.

Our ideal Assistant candidate has familiarity with and interest in Waldorf education and experience working with young children. A desire to pursue Waldorf Early Childhood certification is a plus. We seek a talented individual who loves children, teaching, and can work with colleagues in a collaborative manner.

We value a strong collegial rapport and warm relationships with parents.

The assistant will be expected to work cooperatively with the lead teacher to support the activities of the class, prepare snacks and/or lunch, care for the classroom and play-yard environment.
Part of our day is spent outside, so we are looking for an energetic individual who would be comfortable spending about 2 hours per day outdoors.

The Nursery Program runs from 8:30a.m until 1:00p.m Monday to Friday.

Eurythmy Teacher 2015/2016

The Waldorf School of Sarasota is seeking a trained pedagogical eurythmy teacher for the 2015-2016 school year.

Ideally we are looking for a part-time eurythmist to teach two classes a week for each of the four grades, and once a week for the kindergarten for the entire school year.

We are also open to a visiting eurythmist to cover the same amount of classes over a 6-8 week block.

Grades Assistant 2015/2016

Waldorf Sarasota is seeking a Grades Assistant to join our team for the 2015-16 school year.

The assistant will support the lead teachers with individual and group work both inside and outside of the classroom. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is in training to complete or recently completed the Waldorf grades teacher training program.

Preference will be given to those candidates who have a background and/or experience with Waldorf Education, so that there is a base from which to apply and deepen this work in a practical, school setting. The position will require approximately 10-13 hours of work per week, and occasionally will provide the assistant with the opportunity to
substitute for the lead teachers when needed.
