Waldorf Sarasota is seeking several qualified people to join our team for the 2015-16 school year.

We are a very close knit community of parents and teachers who are all very dedicated to building a strong and vibrant Waldorf school in the Gulf Coast of Florida.

5th/6th Grade Teacher 2015/2016

The Waldorf School of Sarasota is in search of a 5th/6th class teacher  for the  2015/2016 school year. Desired qualifications include a college degree, Waldorf Teaching Certification and prior teaching experience. Ideal candidates are Waldorf trained teachers with a solid track record of successful teaching experience, a commitment to Waldorf Education, and a willingness to contribute to a developing school with strong leadership and faculty participation. We seek a talented individual who loves children, teaching, and can work with colleagues in a collaborative manner.

Waldorf Sarasota presently offers Nursery through Upper grades programs as well as Parent-Child classes. Our specialty subjects program includes: Spanish, German, Handwork, Woodworking, Strings, Games, and Music. Now in our 15th year, our supporting community includes fully trained class teachers, a committed board of trustees and administrative staff as well as an active parent community experienced in preparing festival celebrations and creating imaginative and successful fund-raising events. We are a developing school that welcomes a pioneering spirit with a willingness to share an enthusiasm for Waldorf education through outreach into the greater community.

Eurythmy Teacher 2015/2016

The Waldorf School of Sarasota is seeking a trained pedagogical eurythmy teacher for the 2015-2016 school year.

Ideally we are looking for a part-time eurythmist to teach two classes a week for each of the four grades, and once a week for the kindergarten for the entire school year.

We are also open to a visiting eurythmist to cover the same amount of classes over a 6-8 week block.

Grades Assistant 2015/2016

Waldorf Sarasota is seeking a Grades Assistant to join our team for the 2015-16 school year.

The assistant will support the lead teachers with individual and group work both inside and outside of the classroom. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is in training to complete or recently completed the Waldorf grades teacher training program.

Preference will be given to those candidates who have a background and/or experience with Waldorf Education, so that there is a base from which to apply and deepen this work in a practical, school setting. The position will require approximately 10-13 hours of work per week, and occasionally will provide the assistant with the opportunity to
substitute for the lead teachers when needed.

Handwork Teacher 2015-2016

The Waldorf School of Sarasota seeks a part-time Handwork teacher for 1st through 6th grade for the 2015-2016 school year.

Handwork is a blend of art and craft, beauty and usefulness and has the specific task within the context of the curriculum of awakening creative powers which would find fruitful and useful application in as many ways as possible in later life and work.

Candidates should be familiar with the skills of spinning, knitting, felting, crochet, cross stitch and sewing and have the ability to choose developmentally appropriate projects using these skills.

Ideally, a candidate will be able to incorporate verses, songs and rhymes with handwork appropriate themes to help create an imaginative picture when introducing new skills, and work in closely with class teachers.

The ideal candidate should have classroom teaching experience/classroom management skills, as well as substantial communication and interpersonal skills. An understanding of Waldorf Education is preferred.
